IT Support UK GDPR

European data protection laws are changing for the first time in 20 years.

WAIT! Don’t go! This is relevant to your business and it’s happening soon.

The new law’s called GDPR. And if you don’t tow the line, you could be looking at a huge fine, damage to your reputation and even the complete closure of your business.

You’ve probably got questions. So let’s go through the basics.

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation. It will replace the Data Protection Act.

Even though we’re leaving the EU, British businesses still need to comply.

It covers all sorts of personal data, from dates of birth and addresses, to more sensitive stuff like religion and sexual orientation.

If you collect any kind of data about anyone, they’ll have the right to ask you to show them that data, or delete it completely.

Some bigger organisations will now be required by law to employ a Data Protection Officer.

You are accountable for the data you collect. That means if something goes wrong, you’ll get more than a slap on the wrist.

Companies that lose data or fail to comply with the law can be fined up to twenty million euros. And worse, they will be publically named and shamed.

Sounds scary? No – so long as you are well prepared.

We’re able to help you with the data security aspects of GDPR.

We can ensure that you have an appropriate level of protection on your network, using strategies such as a firewall, vulnerability scanning, and off-site backups of critical data.
